PAX – Wild Sprayer, Bawittaba, Goose, Pixar, Moana, Brita, Wall E, Chanel, Simmons, Mick, Bluto, El Chapo, Sipe,

Got out to PR early to set up the diamond. By the time I finished it was darker than the devil’s b-hole; you couldn’t see 2 feet in front of you and my plan was in serious trouble.

Arm circles and Michael Phelps while the F3 Spiel was delivered. Started with base running drills (fortunately no one ran into each other) and then night at the Improv began. Started at home plate doing 10 3 count merkins, 10 3 count leg raises, and 10 SSH, then to 1st 9,9,9, etc.
My first mistake was my cadence, my second mistake was allowing others to lead. The hilarious debauchery that followed is not able to be recounted on these pages for fear of the authorities getting involved. However the various nicknames given for the merkins and leg raises may yet live on.
Stations were created at the bases and various points along the outfield “fence” 10 merkins run 10 squats run 9 merkins…etc. It was at this point it dawned on Simmons that I may have been making this up as I went along.
Despite the darkness, MC was at supersaen levels. Mick, Brit, Sipe, Simmons, and Kid Rock song crushed it and picked up the 6s ( Bluto and I – shocker). Miraculously we ended at the shovel flag I had planted in CF ( Brita – “There’s a flag here?!”)
PAX helped me collect cones and various sundries and we gathered on the mound for COR, NoR and CoT – Brita got up on the soapbox and gave a spirited 6 ignoring both the red light and the band starting to play. I shared the story of the 2020 CCHS baseball seniors who lost their season but taught me a ton about accountability and dealing with adversity. Ended with a clumsy hand metaphor about how we need less finger pointing (blaming others) and more people using their thumbs (looking inward). Surprisingly, no PAX turned this into other activities you could do with your hands or places your thumbs could go (Belding, Gap, and/or Minnie would not have missed that softball).
Prayers for Mick’s Mom, Chap’s pops, Blut’s little girl, a mom gone too soon, and the physical and mental health of the many PAX.
